Tamara (Tammy) Freeman is Deputy Director – Human Resources for the University of
Georgia. In her role, she has responsibility for the operations of Human Resources.
She leads the team as they provide strategic counsel, employee engagement, and the
efficient management of operations. As a resource to people, UGAHR is engaged throughout
the employee’s lifetime at the University of Georgia. The team navigates sensitive
situations and information, and assists in the resolution of complex work-related
issues.
Tammy served as Director of Human Resources at for the University of Notre Dame for
15 year prior to joining UGA. She was responsible for advancing Notre Dame’s capabilities
by enhancing individual and organizational potential. This included strategic planning,
and designing and implementing an integrated talent and learning strategy. Her area
of expertise included recruiting, performance management, career development and learning.
In addition, she coordinated the employee engagement survey for campus and helped
leadership analyze and utilize the information.
Prior to joining Notre Dame in 2005, Tammy worked in manufacturing for 24 years, most
recently as Vice President of Administration. Her experience encompassed all aspects
of Human Resources including Employee Development, Staffing, Compensation and Benefits,
Strategic Planning, Safety and Labor Relations. Her experience also includes independent
consulting with clients in the area of career transition and recruiting. Tamara holds
a BS and MS degree in Industrial Management.
