Dr. Juanita W. Hicks - Biography

Dr. Juanita Hicks joined the University of Georgia as Senior Associate Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer in July 2023. She brings over 20 years of experience in human resource management, including more than 10 years of executive leadership. Prior to her role at UGA, Juanita served as Vice Chancellor for Human Resources for the University System of Georgia. She also previously served as Deputy Director of Human Resources and Special Projects at Georgia Tech and as Chief Human Resources Officer at the University of West Georgia.

Sige Burden

Sige Burden - Biography

Sige Burden has been a part of the University of Georgia Human Resources Division for over 24 years. Since 2000 he has been the primary contact for the Faculty and Staff Relations Department, recently renamed the Department of Workforce Engagement. His department is responsible for advising both supervisors, employees, faculty and staff on workplace concerns, conflicts and personnel policy and procedures. Sige is a trained mediator with the University System of Georgia Consortium for Negotiation and Conflict Resolution. He has a BS in Human Resource Management from Troy State University and a Master of Education in Human Resources and Organizational Design from the University of Georgia.

Travis Jackson - Biography

Travis Jackson has been a member of the University Human Resources team since 2008, but has a total of 20 years of UGA experience. He currently serves as the Senior Director of Employee Wellbeing which includes the areas of Benefits, Benefits Accounting, Learning & Development and Wellbeing. He has served in this role since 2013. Prior to this role, he was responsible for the creation and service delivery of the Financial Management and Education Center unit in University Human Resources. In this role, he helped counsel employees on their overall financial wellbeing. Prior to coming to University Human Resources, Travis was a financial advisor with AIG Valic providing services to UGA employees and retirees. Previous to that, he was the Head Golf Professional for the University of Georgia Golf Course. He holds a BBA in Finance from the University of Georgia.

Russ Ramsey - Biography

Russ Ramsey brings 20 years of human resources experience and has been with University Human Resources since 2005. Throughout his time at UGA, Russ has distinguished himself both within UHR and across the UGA community. Russ has worked in a variety of HR functions, equipping him with comprehensive knowledge and understanding of UGA’s organizational needs, particularly in the areas of systems and compensation. His experience and demeanor position him well for service and stewardship in this leadership role. University Human Resources is pleased to announce that Russ will serve as the new Senior Director for HR Administration and Compensation.

Nakia Wade - Biography

Nakia Wade joins the UHR with more than 20 years of human resource-related experience, most recently as the chief HR officer for the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences. She possesses a deep understanding of the needs of the university community, with a particular emphasis on designing effective initiatives to attract and retain diverse talent. Nakia’s firsthand experience in effecting positive change and her background in fostering diverse, equitable, and inclusive spaces make her an ideal fit to champion the Talent team’s mission to further support UGA’s strategic objectives as the new Senior Director for Diversity, Inclusion and Talent.

Lisa Kelly - Biography

Lisa Kelly began her career as a poultry surgeon and trainer with a small biopharma company before transitioning to laboratory management. In 2010, she returned to her alma mater the University of Georgia as the Office of Research Training Coordinator, expanding the program into the Office of Research Integrity and Safety Support Services (ORISSS). In 2016, Lisa chaired the committee that selected the Professional Education Portal (PEP) as UGA's professional learning management system, overseeing its implementation and launch in 2018. As ORISSS Director, she also started UGA's first onsite research occupational health clinic in 2019, using PEP as a management tool. Lisa has held a split position between UGA's Office of Research and Human Resources since 2020. She will oversee PEP and its expansion, while also supporting emerging initiatives such as the Journeys Project. Lisa holds an M.Ed. in Educational Administration and is pursuing a doctorate in Learning, Leadership, and Organization Development.

Michael is the Director of the UGA Search Group and leads a team of talented professionals who comprise this premier organization at the University of Georgia. The UGA Search Group is one of the academy's first internal executive search units and Michael has served as a senior member of this team for more than ten years. He specializes in executive recruitment strategies and overall search process facilitation. His experience in recruitment and consultation has spanned multiple industries including Finance, Information Technology, Health Care, and Academia. Michael and his team partner with hiring authorities and search committee members to identify and attract the most talented leaders in the field to choose the University of Georgia. The Search Group has conducted more than 140 senior leadership searches since inception and has delivered more than a 90% successful placement rate. This success is built on strategic recruitment methodologies which deliver the highest caliber professionals to successfully fulfill senior leadership needs. Matthew Reiter

Matthew Reiter - Biography

Matthew is the Assistant Director of Operations for the UGA Search Group and has worked in Human Resources at the University of Georgia since 2008. Matthew started as part of the process management team in the UGA Search Group, where some of his responsibilities included sourcing highly qualified prospective candidates for recruitment, document preparation, advertising, applicant tracking system administration, and assisting candidates, hiring authorities, search committee members and other stakeholders throughout the search process. As Assistant Director of Operations, Matthew now supervises a team of talented individuals supporting both the recruitment and process management functions of the Search Group to coordinate the executive search process and facilitate the successful recruitment of top talent to UGA. Prior to joining UGA, Matthew worked at a local branch of an e-Commerce retail company where he gained experience in operations, scheduling and payroll. He holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Tiffin University in Ohio.

Hannah Brannen - Biography

Hannah Brannen is the Senior Executive Process Consultant and has been a member of the UGA Search Group since 2017. Her work focuses on managing the processes required to facilitate every search, such as organizing meetings with committee members and key stakeholders, developing timelines and schedules, and communicating information regarding the search to the University community. Prior to her time with the Search Group, Hannah held positions in sales and support, always with a focus on providing exceptional service. She is an alumna of the University of Georgia with undergraduate degrees in International Affairs and Fine Arts and a master's degree in organizational development with UGA's College of Education.

Anjanette Russell joined the UGA Search Group in Spring 2022 as a Senior Executive Recruiting Consultant.
