
Young Dawgs Program

The University of Georgia Young Dawgs Program is a high school internship program designed to prepare high-achieving high school juniors and seniors for post-secondary education and future careers in their areas of interest. Students accepted into the program participate in unpaid internships on campus–in placements throughout the university–as well as in the community. The program is open to students from public, private, and home schools. Students are required to have a GPA of at least 3.7 in order to participate.
Since its inception in 2008, the Young Dawgs program has hosted 1403 high school participants from public, private, and homeschool environments in over 460 different work sites.
The Young Dawgs Program offers two programs—each requiring a minimum of 110 internship hours:
- Academic School Year Program: The Spring 2026 Academic School Year Program is currently full. We will take applicants for Fall 2026 students beginning in January. Minimum 3.8 GPA required. Students must be a Junior or Senior to apply.
- Summer Science Program: The Summer 2026 Program is full.
