Young Dawgs Program

The University of Georgia Young Dawgs Program is a high school internship program designed to prepare high-achieving high school juniors and seniors for post-secondary education and future careers in their areas of interest. Students accepted into the program participate in unpaid internships on campus–in placements throughout the university–as well as in the community. The program is open to students from public, private, and home schools. Students are required to have a GPA of at least 3.7 in order to participate.
Since its inception in 2008, the Young Dawgs program has hosted 1100 high school participants from public, private, and homeschool environments in over 440 different work sites.
The Young Dawgs Program offers two programs—each requiring a minimum of 120 internship hours:
- Academic School Year Program: The Fall 2024 Program is full and the Spring 2025 Academic School Year Program is also full. Students may participate for one or two semesters and receive high school credit for successful completion. Minimum 3.7 GPA required.
- Summer Science Program: The Summer 2025 Program is full.
