Mandatory Plan premiums and methods of payment

Special Information about Summer-only 2018 Enrollment and Waiver Period
The enrollment and waiver period for summer-only 2018 is April 16, 2018 – June 20, 2018.

Enrollment and waiver information for the 2018-2019 academic year (coverage from August 1, 2018 – July 31, 2019) will be announced at a later date.

Who must enroll or waive Summer-only coverage?
The only students that can enroll or waive during the Summer –only enrollment and waiver period are students who are newly-mandated during the summer 2018 semester.  Newly-mandated students are:

  • International students with a J or F visa status enrolling during summer 2018 semester(s) who were not enrolled in classes during spring 2018 semester
  • Graduate students newly awarded a graduate assistantship tuition waiver for summer 2018 semester.

Students who were enrolled or had an approved waiver during the spring/summer 2017 coverage period do not need to enroll or submit a waiver request again for Summer-only coverage.  Enrollments, including dependent enrollments, and approved waivers for spring/summer 2018 cover the period of January 1 – July 31, 2018.

Students that did not submit a waiver request during the spring/summer 2018 waiver period and thus were automatically enrolled in the plan for spring/summer 2018 coverage period cannot waive any coverage until the fall 2018 waiver period.  Students automatically enrolled were enrolled in coverage from January 1- July 31, 2018 and the coverage cannot be prorated and ended early.

Premiums and methods of payment depend upon your student status. Please note: there is no partial-semester coverage. E.g., if you enroll for spring/summer coverage and finish your studies in March, you are covered through July 31 and are responsible for payment of premiums for the entire spring/summer coverage period.
