Bereavement Leave  

 

In the event of a death in one's immediate family, an employee may be allowed necessary time off with pay not to exceed four working days chargable to sick leave to attend funeral arrangements. 

 

Blood Donation Leave  

An employee who donates blood shall receive up to two (2) hours per occurrence. The maximum blood donation leave an employee can receive is eight (8) hours each calendar year between January 1 and December 31. 

An employee who donates blood platelets or granulocytes may receive up to four (4) hours per occurrence. The maximum blood platelet or granulocytes donations leave an employee can receive is sixteen (16) hours each calendar year between January 1 and December 31. 

Military Leave

 

Educational Support Leave 

 

Regular, full time employees (1.0 FTE) are entitled for up to eight (8) hours of paid leave per calendar year for the purpose of promoting education in the State of Georgia.

 

Jury Duty Leave 

Regular employees called for jury duty or witness duty will be paid at the normal rate of pay for any regularly scheduled time absent from work.

Voting Leave 

 

Employees are encouraged to exercise their constitutional right to vote in all elections. If election polls are not open at least two (2) hours before or two (2) hours after an employee's normally scheduled work shift, an employee may receive up to two (2) hours of paid voting leave.

 

Compensatory Time Leave 

If a non-exempt employee is required to work in excess of 40 hours per week, the employee may be granted a Compensatory Time (comptime) leave balance.

Please note that Compensatory Time is managed on a fiscal year basis (July - June). All Compensatory Time should be used or paid out before the end of each fiscal year (June 30). More information can be found in UGA's overtime policy (PDF)

Note: there is a 240 hour limit for compensatory time within a fiscal year.

Deferred Holiday Leave 

 

If a non-exempt employee is required to work on an official holiday or the holiday falls on the employee's scheduled off day, the employee may be granted a deferred holiday leave balance.

 

Employees request absences by using OneUSG Connect Employee Self-Service. Absences must be approved by your manager/time approver to be processed.
