Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) checks

GUIDELINES

In keeping with Board of Regents policy and in an effort to promote a safe work environment, the University of Georgia ensures that employees who drive state or rental vehicles on University business have appropriate documentation of a license to drive and operate the vehicle. Certain occurrences could cause an employee/volunteer to be considered a “Disqualified Driver.”

All new University employees will have a motor vehicle record (MVR) check as part of the background investigation process. All current employees and volunteers will have an MVR check a minimum of once per year.

As a reporting requirement, employees who are charged with any of the following offenses must report the incident to their supervisors and UGA Human Resources no later than the first business day following the incident.

  • Driving Under the Influence
  • Driving While Intoxicated
  • Leaving the scene of an accident
  • Refusal to take a chemical test for intoxication
  • Aggressive Driving
  • Exceeding speed limit by more than 19 mph

View other reporting requirements as described in the UGA Arrest and Conviction Policy.
