Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance (AD&D)
In addition to the regular life insurance policy, which has an accidental death and dismemberment clause, you may purchase extra accidental death and dismemberment insurance for yourself and your family (legal spouse and eligible children) at a low group rate.
The University System of Georgia has contracted with Minnesota Life to provide AD&D coverage (separate from the AD&D insurance included with your life insurance). During your first 30 days of employment, you may enroll in the AD&D plan with no statement of health required. AD&D coverage is available in multiples of $10,000 up to $500,000.
Premiums for this coverage are deducted from your payroll check. Faculty please note: all faculty who are paid on a ten-month payroll basis will have a triple deduction of premiums on their May payroll checks to pay for May, June, and July premiums.
You should enroll by using the MyBenefits@UGA system. See below for instructions on
how to enroll.

New hires must enroll during their first 31 days of employment or wait until the next open enrollment period each fall. To enroll, use the MyBenefits@UGA system.
- New employees should get the MyBenefits@UGA guide for new employees and follow the instructions to enroll.
- Current employees who wish to make coverage changes due to life events should print the MyBenefits@UGA Change Guide and follow the instructions.
