SUMMARY This is the top financial and administrative position at the college/school or department level and reports only to the Dean, Vice President or Director. Administrative Specialists, Accountants, Budget Analysts,
Human Resource Specialists & Business Managers may report to this
position. Unlike the Business Manager position, which concentrates on
financial leadership, and the Administrative Manager position, which focuses
on operational leadership, the Administrative Financial Director has an
equal focus on financial operations and administration. |
DUTIES
AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Directs operations and serves as a resource for the Director, VP or Dean regarding requirements and trends in unit or department. Recruits, supervises, trains, and evaluates assigned staff. Implements and manages more efficient workflow. Oversees and participates in planning. Directs and manages departmental budget including preparation of fiscal
year budget, financial statements and reports of fiscal affairs. Conducts and assists with the development of long- & short-range goals. Develops objectives and activities based on departmental goals. Represents the college or department & serves on various department
& university committees. Act in place of the Dean, VP or Director in that person's absence. |
EDUCATION
AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting or related field (MBA preferred) and ten (10) or more years management & supervisory experience; OR fifteen (15) years related management experience; OR equivalent combination
of experience, training and/or education. |
KNOWLEDGE,
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Thorough knowledge of principles and practices pertaining to the assigned college or department. Experience developing management and supervisory principles & practices. Extensive knowledge of university budget and accounting rules, policies
and procedures. Ability to develop and participate in strategic planning. Skill in program design & development. Strong leadership & communication skills. |
