SUMMARY This is the third level in a group of five progressively
higher administrative/support jobs. This title seeks advice and leadership from supervisor
for complex issues or those requiring authorization such as deviation
from policy. It may monitor or coordinate the work of others within an
assigned function.The areas of expertise may be
much more specialized and may require complete knowledge of the department
or unit functions and responsibilities. It requires independent action
and judgment in solving common problems. This title frequently deals with issues of a highly confidential
nature and must be able to use discretion effectively. In addition, it
serves as primary contact for academic and departmental programs, and
outside entities. This may be in a one-person office. |
DUTIES
AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responds to questions as they relate to policies and procedures and ensures
necessary follow-up. Provides administrative support to managers, directors and department
heads. Assists in the planning, research, development, and implementation of
programs and specials projects. Monitors budget and completes financial forms and reports for supervisor
or other work unit members. Creates, types, formats and proofreads materials such as manuscripts,
technical documents, forms, vouchers, classroom materials and correct
grammatical, punctuation and spelling errors. Compiles, generates and tabulates various data or statistics for manuscripts,
records or recurring reports such as time sheets, office activity reports
or statement reconciliations Performs other related duties as assigned. |
EDUCATION
AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent and two years of progressively responsible office experience. |
KNOWLEDGE,
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Working knowledge of office practices and procedures. Organizational skills. Ability to use discretion with confidential information. Ability to use independent judgment. A typing test may be required by the department. |
