2026 – 2027 Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) Program Announcement

Every year, the University System of Georgia and the University of Georgia work hard to obtain the most competitive rates and most valuable benefits for students enrolling in the USG Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP).  We work with an Advisory Committee which includes student representation to help recommend the best approach for plan benefits and premiums each year.

For the 2026-2027 Academic Year, there are no changes to plan benefits; however, there will be an increase of +7% to rates for students and enrollees.

While maintaining historical pricing remains a priority, certain variables necessitate periodic adjustments from our insurance carrier, UnitedHealthcare. Amid rapidly rising healthcare costs nationwide, our adjustment still falls below the market trend of 8%–10%. The chart below shows the annual premium for each tier.
