Legal assistance

UGA’s ASPIRE Clinic in the College of Family and Consumer Sciences offers free pre-lawyering assistance to help clients access preliminary information and guidance on legal problems.  The Clinic providers do not take cases to court and cannot act as your legal representative.

Minnesota Life Insurance offers all benefits-eligible employees access to legal consulting services through its LifeWorks program. Employees can take advantage of a free consultation with an expert legal consultant and receive answers to their legal questions and concerns. LifeWorks consultants provide general information and a wealth of resources on legal matters, including information on divorce, child support, adoption, wills and estate planning, buying a home, elder law issues, and much more.  At the login page use Username:  lfg and Password:  resources. Metlife Legal Services offers legal tools, forms and information in its legal resource center about such legal issues as divorce, child custody, real estate, and others. For members who have purchased the Long-term Disability plan, MetLife also provides a free 30-minute initial consultation with an attorney.  At the log in page,  use Company code:  metlife2.  Or you can call 1-800-511-3920.

Metlilfe offers all employees access to the publication Legal Matters that provides information on wills and estates, power of attorney, and advance directives.
